Homecoming 2024: Jaguar Palooza

Jaguars, get ready to rock out at Jaguar Palooza, Governors State University’s (GovState) 2024 Homecoming.

The weeklong tradition full of fun, kicks off Sunday, October 27, with the annual Jaguar 5K Run. The week includes everything from games to karaoke, to a theatre performance and a pep rally. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni can all join in on the events and activities.

Curious about what’s to come? Here are seven things to look forward to during Homecoming week.

1. Student & Alumni Talent Show (Sunday, October 27 at 5 p.m. in Sherman Hall) – Take center stage or grab a seat in the audience for an unforgettable evening when students and alumni can showcase their talents from music and dance to poetry and more!

2. Skate Palooza at GovState (Monday, October 28 at 7 p.m. in Hall of Governors) – Time to lace up some skates! Bring some friends for an evening of music, laughter, and fun. All are welcome, whether seasoned skater or a first timer.

3. Pumpkin Mash (Tuesday, October 29 at 2:30 p.m. in Hall of Governors) – Get creative with this fun-filled pumpkin painting event! Pumpkins, paint, and other supplies for designing a festive fall decoration will be provided.

4. Family Fun Fair (Wednesday, October 30 at 3:30 p.m. in Hall of Governors) – Come join for some family-friendly activities like face painting, balloon sculpture, games, story time, and more!

5. Homecoming Pep Rally (Thursday, October 31 at 1 p.m. in GovState Gym) – Show Jaguar pride as GovState builds energy and excitement in anticipation for the Homecoming Basketball Games.

6. Day of the Dead Altar (Friday, November 1 at 11 a.m. in Latinx Resource Center) – Día de Muertos, a cherished Latin tradition honoring those who have passed. Experience a day filled with culture, remembrance, and community while paying tribute to loved ones.

7. Tailgate Day Party (Saturday, November 2 at Noon at B Wing Patio) – Close out Jaguar Palooza festivities with fellow alumni, students, and fans ahead of the men’s and women’s basketball games.
