Get ready, Jaguars, as Governors State University’s (GovState) annual Jaguar 5K returns Sunday, October 27.

Whether running or walking, this is a chance to join friends and family to race and raise funds for scholarships. The event promises a lively atmosphere with music, fresh donuts, breakfast bites, hot cider, and fall inspired signature cocktails courtesy of area food and beverage trucks.

Compete for age group medals at this bib chip timed 5K! There will also be prizes for fundraisers and fun for the little ones with the kids dash and face painting provided by Lupus Society of Illinois.

Before the 5K begins, the Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy teams will lead an energizing warm-up and dance to help participants warm up their muscles for a successful trek around the course.

This is the first year that the Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA) will be connected to the 5K in this way.

“We hope to use this year as a great start to our connection with the 5K and get even more involved in the years to come!” said Jacob Jackowski, SOTA President.

“We thought it would be best to promote health and wellness for the 5K by leading group stretches a few times before the race to ensure everyone is stretched, ready to go, and minimize any injuries occurring during the 5K,” said Jacob.

The race starts at 9 a.m. at Governors State University with on-site registration opening at 8 a.m.

Register here! Everyone that registers will receive a custom t-shirt, fun swag and snacks.

Thank you to GovState’s 5K sponsors, Lupus Society of Illinois, South Suburban Mayors & Managers Association (SSMMA), DOT, Elite Ambulance and Pepsi.
