Welcome to the fall 2024 semester, Jaguars!
Welcome back to our returning students and welcome to our new Jaguars- the class of 2029!
I hope you had a wonderful summer, and you are as eager and excited as we are here at Governors State University to start our 2024-25 academic year! All of us are thrilled and honored you have chosen Governors State University for your college education. We are so proud to be able to offer you a high quality, affordable, and meaningful education.
As part of the Jaguar family, you will be able to take classes with leading professors, engage with our community, and participate in sports, clubs, and abundant student leadership opportunities. You will also be able to enjoy art exhibitions, music, theater and dance, and admire our beautiful grounds when you tour the Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park. We are pleased to offer you internships, study abroad, and unique experiences to participate in programs that address one of our signature themes—social justice. We are committed as a University community to increase the social mobility of both our students as well as members of the communities we serve.
Being a Jaguar means you share our vision of excellence in the classroom, healthy living, self-care strategies to reduce stress, and maintaining a balanced life. We encourage you to reach out if you have questions or need help as you engage with your studies. We offer learning support services, transportation to and from the Metra station, counseling and study skills support, and many other options for building a rich relationship with our campus. We encourage you to meet with faculty during their office hours (when they are in their campus offices before and after classes), to join student clubs and organizations, and to mold your future with us, making your own pathway and creating new ones for those who come behind you.
