Dr. Timothy Pedigo is an Assistant Professor, Coordinator of Clinical Training for the Masters in Clinical Psychology Program and Co-coordinator of the Mindfulness in the helping Professions Certificate Program. He became a full-time lecturer in GSU’s Division of Psychology and Counseling in 2008 and is an expert in Mindfulness, Compassion and Treatment of Trauma.
Dr. Pedigo has a special interest in decreasing the drop-out rate for low-income, first-generation freshman students by addressing effects of trauma/the role of mindfulness and compassion practices in education. His research projects explore how mindfulness develops emotional and social learning, which leads to better adaptation and higher achievement in school.
Specifically, Dr. Pegigo’s areas of research include:
- Mindfulness and Compassion in Psychotherapy
- Compassion Practices and Trauma
- Trauma Informed Practices in Education
Dr. Pedigo completed his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology and earned a B.A. in Psychology/Philosophy from Trinity College.
