Art enthusiasts and casual appreciators can catch tours of the art, both new and familiar, indoors and outdoors on Governors State University's (GovState) campus this fall.
Andrew Bearnot: TORQUE
From October 1 – November 13, Andrew Bearnot’s TORQUE exhibit will be on display in the Visual Arts Gallery with an Artist’s Talk and Reception on Wednesday, October 7 from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. in the gallery.
In the artist’s own words, Bearnot’s art is “characterized by gradients, twists, and undulations.”
“My glass sculptures are relational: shifting in response to each other and the viewer’s position in space. I think of them as tools for queer phenomenological discovery,” said Bearnot (they/he). “The forms reference digital rendering, yet they arise out of fundamentally analog processes.”
A self-described materialist, Bearnot thinks with and through the substance of things. Bearnot was a Fulbright Fellow in Sweden and recently completed an artist residency at Urban Glass in Brooklyn, New York.
