From STEAM Camp to Performing Arts Summer Camp, Governors State University (GovState) has a range of events for the summer for high school students and adults looking to pursue a hobby, follow higher educational goals, or make connections with others with similar interests.
1. A Seat at the Table Lunch
Guests are invited to gather at the Running Table for a bring-your-own-lunch experience amid the trees around GovState’s large yellow sculpture, Illinois Landscape No. 5 by John Henry, fondly called French Fries. Bring friends, co-workers, a social organization, club, or neighbors to this free event. No registration required.
Joey’s Food Truck will be on campus on July 14 to purchase lunch from 11:30a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will help support future programming at the Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park (theNate).
Every other Tuesday at 12 noon

2. STEAM Camp
A camp for hands-on science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) fun! Campers will be guided through different STEAM activities. This program is also ideal for homeschoolers.
Registration will close at 50 participants.
Ages: Middle and High School Students (10 – 16)
Dates: July 20 – 24 & July 27 – 31
Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Fee: $400* (Scholarships available)

3. Innovation and Technology Camp
This 3-day camp has four sections that teach the following subjects: 3D Printing/Scanning; 3D Modeling for Games, Animation, and Design; and Game Design/AI Tools.
Ages: High School Students (14 to 18)
Dates: July 8 – 10
Time: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Fee: $130

4. The Lion King Jr.
Designed for young performers eager to explore the magic of musical theatre, this exciting program invites campers to bring stories to life through movement, music, and performance in a fun supportive environment. Throughout the camp, participants will develop foundational skills in acting, singing, and dance, culminating in a final performance of Disney’s The Lion King JR on Thursday, July 9 at 7:30 p.m.
Registration deadline is Thursday, June 4. Capacity is limited to 60 campers.
Dates: Mondays through Thursdays, June 8 – July 9
Time: 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Tuition Fee: $575 per camper if paid by May 21 (Early Bird Savings!)
$625 per camper if paid after May 21
Balance is due no later than June 11
*Tuition includes camp participation, t-shirt, and two adult tickets to the final performance

5. Open House Events
Visit GovState and learn about the exceptional and accessible education opportunities offered from arts and sciences, business, education and human development, and health and human services. Programs range from bachelor’s degrees to master’s and doctoral degrees with on-campus and online classes.
