Social work programs reaffirm accreditation
Both the bachelor’s and master’s social work programs at Governors State University (GovState) have recently had their accreditation reaffirmed by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
“Accreditation is paramount; it demonstrates that our program adheres to the rigorous standards established by our accrediting body,” said Dr. Giesela Grumbach, Chair of GovState’s Department of Social Work. “This ensures that our students are thoroughly prepared to serve the public as the next generation of highly qualified social work professionals.”
With the reaffirmation, the programs are accredited for the next eight years. Dr. Grumbach emphasized the program's commitment to education.
“Our program's core values are deeply aligned with the professional principles of justice, dignity, and respect for the inherent worth of every individual,” said Dr. Grumbach. “We are committed to cultivating culturally responsive practitioners who embody integrity and passion in their service to the community.”
Dr. Grumbach also expressed her gratitude for the efforts of the Department of Social Work, whose dedication made this possible.
“I am deeply grateful for our faculty, who champion student-centered learning and wholeheartedly embrace accreditation standards,” she said. “They are the heart and soul of our department, using their expertise to advance the highest standards in social work education as outlined by the Council of Social Work Education.”
