Preparing Teachers

Governors State University's  College of Education faculty recently met with faculty and staff from Crete-Monee Community School District in a collaboration to ensure the success of future teachers in the district.

More than 30 faculty and staff participated in the activity, part of a Continuous Improvement Communities of Practice (CICP) initiative launched this summer by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) to help districts better recruit, train, and retain teachers in high demand subject areas and schools.

All members of the CICP have expressed goals, and GSU’s is to improve teacher preparation through clinical emersion. This model seamlessly guides the teacher candidates from clinical experience to student teaching to job placement at the same school.
