National Hispanic Heritage Month
National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15) is a time set aside to honor Hispanic and Latino communities’ remarkable contributions and rich cultural heritage. This year’s theme, “Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together,” resonates deeply with Governors State University's (GovState’s) commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Historically, Hispanic and Latino pioneers have been at the forefront of change, challenging barriers, and driving progress in every field, from art and science to social justice and public policy. Their resilience and innovation have not only transformed their communities but have also shaped the broader landscape of our society. Their contributions are invaluable and integral to our community.
At GovState, we recognize that our strength lies in the diverse perspectives and experiences of our students, faculty, and staff. During this month, we celebrate not only the achievement of these trailblazers but also the ongoing contributions of Hispanic and Latino members of the GovState family. Their stories of perseverance and leadership inspire us all to work together toward a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. We are proud to celebrate their achievements and are inspired by their leadership.
