Nationally known diversity strategist Damon Williams, Ph.D., will lead a day-long event on the Center of Performing Arts stage of Governors State University on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022. The first of a three (3)-part distinguished speaker series, the Inclusive Excellence Residency tour is designed to advance the university’s goals to make a positive and impactful change through its DEI initiatives.

Though the entire campus is invited to participate in all sessions, Williams will focus on specific strategies for faculty, employees, students and the campus community with individual sessions held in-person and virtually.

Williams is a highly sought visionary who has worked with more than 1,000 colleges and universities, Fortune 100 companies, foundations, and government agencies to lead systemic change.  He is the best-selling author of  “Strategic Diversity Leadership: Activating Change and Transformation In Higher Education” (2013) and also co-authored the first book ever written on the Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) role, “The Chief Diversity Officer: Strategy, Structure, and Change Management”  (2013).

Currently the Chief Catalyst of the Center for Strategic Diversity Leadership and Social Innovation in Atlanta, Williams is also a senior scholar and innovation fellow with the Wisconsin Equity and Inclusion (Wei) Laboratory of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He said timing is right for the DEI conference at Governors State, an institution which he said has empowered generations of Chicagoland residents to achieve their dreams.

“It’s an honor to bring the Inclusive Excellence tour to campus and have a chance to connect with students, faculty, employees, and leadership, particularly as we launch 2022.  Now is a time of hope, renewal, and accelerating change. I’m thankful to be a part of that journey at Governors State University,” said Williams.

This is a hybrid event, to be offered both in-person and virtually.  Learn more and RSVP to  attend here.
