Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park Hosting Oct. 17 Prairie Party

University Park, IL –To welcome the fall foliage, the Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park is hosting "Prairie Party/ Date with theNate," an hour-long celebration of art, social change, and the importance of art to the South Suburbs and beyond.

The free event, set for  Saturday, Oct.17 from 4-5 pm, will give guests a sneak peek at new projects and behind-the-scenes tours of artists’ studios. The evening will feature guest appearances from Governors State University President Cheryl Green, the President of the Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park Advisory Board Patricia Mell Ragland, and Representative Robin Kelly to discuss theNate’s impact and value on a local and national scale.

Conversations will examine the role free access to world-class art at theNate plays in learning and exploration, as well as evoking change in society.

Jeff Stevenson, Director of theNate and Governors State University’s Visual Arts Gallery describes his own personal commitment to the park.

“I'm passionate about art and what it can do for individuals and communities, and that's why we established the Lewis Manilow Common Ground Initiativebecause we wanted to do the most good with what we have, from where we arebuilding on our founder's vision of social justice in our region,” he said.
