Meet the 2024 student Commencement speakers

A director of information technology and an aspiring occupational therapist have been selected to deliver student commencement speeches during Governors State University's (GovState) Commencement ceremonies on May 18, at Tinley Park Convention Center.

Brian Skibinski, a graduate of the Information Technology program, is Director of Technology at Summit Hill School District 161 in Frankfort, Illinois. With more than 20 years in his field, Brian came to GovState to further advance his career and better serve students and educators. He looks forward to taking his degree and what he learned to help those he already serves. He also plans to earn additional professional certificates to aid his continued growth in his field.

Brian will speak at the morning ceremony, where College of Arts and Sciences and College of Business graduates will receive diplomas at 10 a.m.

Leslye Williams, a Community Health graduate, joined GovState after a couple chance encounters with alumni that had glowing reviews of the University. With her bachelor's degree, Leslye looks forward to helping marginalized individuals take care of their health and promote awareness.

Leslye will speak at the afternoon ceremony, where College of Education and Human Development and College of Health and Human Services graduates will receive diplomas at 4 p.m.
