Logan Krska: Physical therapy and reuniting people with the activities they love

With dreams to help others regain mobility to live their fullest lives, Logan Krska decided to pursue his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) at Governors State University (GovState) after a positive experience earning his bachelor’s degree on campus.
Throughout his GovState journey, Logan got involved in any way he could, joining the University’s Physical Therapy Student Association and eventually becoming its President, and working in the Provost’s Office as a Graduate Assistant. He also volunteered and served as Race Director at the 2025 Physical Therapy Student Association (PTSA) Stroke Awareness 5K, a student led event that raises money for the GovState Stroke Support group.
As he receives his doctoral hood this Commencement season, Logan is excited to begin his career in a field that he’s passionate about.
GovState Newsroom: What attracted you to GovState?
Logan: I completed my undergraduate degree in Community Health at GovState and I was charmed by the people and supportive atmosphere. Continuing my education at GovState felt like a natural choice, as I knew I would be supported both academically and personally as I worked towards my DPT.

GovState Newsroom: Why did you choose your degree?
Logan: Mobility is a fundamental part of everyday life, and it is often taken for granted. Once movement is limited, people are unable to live their lives to the fullest.
Physical therapists provide personalized care to get people back to moving, but more importantly, back to living. I decided to become a physical therapist so that I can make a meaningful impact in the rehabilitation process to restore people’s independence and help them return to the activities they love.
GovState Newsroom: What are your dreams for your degree?
Logan: I have always envisioned myself working in a hospital, helping patients recover during some of their toughest moments. I am proud to share that I have accepted a position at a local hospital, which is an exciting step toward turning my dream into a reality.
Through my clinicals, I also discovered a passion for working with individuals with wounds and lymphedema, which is a specialty field within physical therapy. These patients tend to fall through the cracks of our healthcare system, and physical therapists can provide much-needed patient education to assist these patients with healing.
Looking forward, I want to return to GovState to teach within the DPT program, helping to give back to the program and inspire the next generation of physical therapists.
GovState Newsroom: What can you get at Governors State University that you couldn't find anywhere else?
Logan: The faculty within the DPT program made a huge difference throughout the curriculum. They treat us not as students but as future colleagues. That level of respect and professionalism creates a supportive and empowering learning environment. Their compassion and respect made it easy to approach them with questions outside of the classroom. I look at many of my professors as mentors and role models as well.
GovState Newsroom: President Ester has said that GovState provides a sense of home. What makes GovState home for you?
Logan: GovState has been a family affair for the Krska family. My older brother earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Accounting at GovState, and my younger brother is also graduating with his master’s in Accounting this May. It has been so rewarding sharing the college experience with both of them. The endless opportunities provided to our family have been a huge help in our growth as professionals and people.
GovState is also where I have found my closest friendships within the DPT program. The supportive environment and strong relationships are what make GovState feel like more than just a university; it truly feels like home.
GovState Newsroom: What pop culture moment stands out from your time at GovState?
Logan: I am a huge music fan, and I am always listening to music when studying, driving, cooking, etc. 2024 was a huge moment in pop music with the iconic “Brat Summer” with Charli XCX’s album release. That same summer was also the rise in popularity of Sabrina Carpenter, who is one of my favorite artists. She released her album “Short and Sweet” at the end of the summer. This renaissance of Pop Iconics was so fun and exciting to witness!
GovState Newsroom: Any advice for current/future students?
Logan: Make the most of your time at GovState. There are so many opportunities waiting for you; however, you need to seek them out. Finding your community and your people will make college such an enjoyable and unforgettable experience!
