Learning Without Limits: GovState releases 2025 Annual Report
University Park, Illinois – Governors State University (GovState) recently released its comprehensive 2025 Annual Report, Learning Without Limits.
“Learning Without Limits” is a 48-page digital snapshot of the institution’s milestone achievements in FY25 from students excelling locally and globally, in the classroom and out, to exceptional faculty and staff, to distinguished alumni.
Among the report highlights are stories from each of the university’s four academic colleges. The College of Arts and Sciences began a unique partnership agreement with the Illinois State Police (ISP). The College of Business celebrated its annual Business Week with an inaugural Pitch Party, a College of Education and Human Development student was named a 2024 Lincoln Laureate, and the College of Health and Human Services, in collaboration with the Bremen Township Wellness Center, launched a Stroke Awareness campaign.
Additionally, Governors State Athletics Women’s Basketball Team won both the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) regular season and the post-season championships, their Head Coach, Tonishea Mack, was named Coach of the Year for the second straight season.
This year’s annual report reflects the vision and leadership of Dr. Cheryl F. Green, the sixth president of Governors State University who retired on March 1, 2025, and, sadly, passed in April following a long illness.
The University continues its legacy of excellence, innovation, and inclusivity in honor of her memory.
On July 1, GovState named Joyce C. Ester, Ph.D. as the University’s seventh president. President Ester brings with her more than 30 years of extensive experience in higher education leadership.
In President Ester’s message in this year’s Annual Report she expressed her pride in the University:
“Within these pages, you will find evidence of our continued student success, faculty and staff accomplishments, community partnerships, and global impact. I invite you to continue standing with Governors State University and to encourage others to join you as we advance education through excellence and transform lives throughout the Southland, the region, and the world.”
