Humans of GSU: Grace Gloria Kapichi

"My name is Grace Gloria Kapichi and I am 25 years old. I was born in Minnesota but I was raised in Tanzania, East Africa. I returned to the United States in 2017 for college. I started at Prairie State College, graduating with my associates degree, and transferred to Governor State University.

I love GSU. Governors State provides all of the resources you need in order to succeed in your classes, as well as supportive faculty.

I believe it’s important to celebrate Black History Month through education because future generations need to know their ethnicity, background, and legendary icons such as Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr., who fought for the rights of Black people. If it wasn’t for them, the children of today would still be facing segregation. Our generation needs to understand what our ancestors went through in order to get us where we are today.”
