Humans of GSU: Alexis Sarkisian

“As a producer for NBC Chicago, I had the privilege to advocate for a number of social issues within our community. My highest priority was to have literacy and education attainable for all. Working for the marketing division at Governors State’s  University Library allows me to continue these efforts by supporting students in reaching their goals and dreams.

My time at GSU continues to be a wonderful experience. GSU’s mission of making education accessible over the past 50 years is a natural synergy for me. I look forward to continuing our celebration of the 50th Anniversary of GSU and believe the university’s purpose is imperative to the growth of our society. Being able to participate in the fulfillment of that mission is a pleasure. As Alfred Lord Tennyson once wrote, ‘I am a part of all that I have met.’ Helping students gain their education is a mutual exchange. Not only do I leave a part of my education with students, but I learn from them as well.”
