Honors College to highlight student work this spring

This spring, the Governors State University (GovState) Honors College will showcase the research and creative work of its honors students.
On March 1, GovState will host the Honors Council of the Illinois Region Spring Symposium where honors students from two and four-year schools will come together. This event is an opportunity to shine a light on outstanding honors student research and creative activities, as well as faculty-student research and creative collaborations.
“This is a great way to elevate the Honors College and bring visibility to the University,” said Dr. David Rhea, Founding Dean of the Honors College.
Taking their research on the road, eight GovState students will be presenting at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) on April 7 – 9.
NCUR is dedicated to promoting undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity in all fields of study across all institutions of higher learning. The conference creates a space where students can connect, advocate for research, strengthen career skills, and more.
“These [GovState] students bring the college to nine student presenters for the year, which is about six percent of the total honors student enrollment,” said Dr. Rhea. “I’m especially proud because our presenters really resemble the demographics of the GovState Honors College.”
