Graduate Profile: Brygette Kunde
Having served eight years in the U.S. Army as an HR Specialist, Brygette Kunde was ready for the next step in her life and coming from a family of educators, pursuing a degree at Governors State University (GovState) seemed a good place to start.
Brygette hopes to one day inspire a passion for learning in others. For now, she's looking forward to graduating this year with her master's degree in Communication, Media, and Performance.
GovState Newsroom: What attracted you to Governors State University?
Brygette: This university has been in my family for years. I come from a family of educators, and it just felt like it was the next best step for me to take and I am so thankful that in this, I was absolutely correct.
GovState Newsroom: What song will always remind you of this time in your life?
Brygette: Adele’s “Hold On” for obvious reasons. I wrote many papers and did many assignments with her singing in my ear to just… hold on!
GovState Newsroom: What are your dreams for your degree?
Brygette: One dream with this degree is to simply use it and apply in some way, whether that is as an adjunct professor or advising students to continue on their own academic journey and to inspire them to “Hold On,” as well. My ultimate dream is to become a college professor of rhetorical studies in a Communication Department persuading students from different backgrounds that school is still cool!
GovState Newsroom: What advice would you give to current and/or future GovState students?
Brygette: HOLD ON! It may not be a crystal stair but keep climbing and reaching landings because that move that you are doubting or are too afraid to take could be your next best move. Being courageous does not mean that fear is not present, but the opposite; jump even when you’re trembling and then just keep holding on!
