GSU Volunteers Make Front Page News in Texas

The volunteer efforts of a Governors State University class led by Dr. Daniel Cortese, Professor of Sociology, made the front page news of the local paper in Rio Grande Valley of Texas.

The undergraduates recently worked with La Posada Providencia in San Benito, a ministry dedicated to providing shelter and programming to refugees from more than 80 countries.

The students assisted with various chores at the site such as painting the structures, composting, weeding, and helping with the children as part of a service learning project.
