GSU to host Business Week featuring keynote speaker Lisa Laws, outstanding alumni
Governors State University’s College of Business is slated to hold its annual Business Week in April where Lisa Laws, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of 1871, will be the keynote speaker followed by the third annual COB Alumni Hall of Achievement Awards.
The April 5, 2022 event is designed to offer professional networking and learning opportunities for businesses, students, alumni and community members. It will feature cocktails, dinner and an award ceremony. Attendees will hear from Laws, whose Chicago-based business incubator has received the World’s #1 Top Business Incubator and the Most Promising Women Founders Incubator awards.
Karen Blackman, Manager of Enrollment And External Relations for COB, said Laws, an African American female engineer by profession, is sure to inspire Jaguars looking to join the workforce at a this dynamic time in history.

Having worked in various roles, she is not confined to a stereotypical model and is a strong and organic leader who uplifts her team, and provides a platform for growth and development. For the third year, the esteemed college will recognize outstanding alumni with Hall of Achievement Awards right after the keynote presentation.
