GSU students awarded financial assistance through state program

Four Governors State University College of Education students are among those named to the Diversifying Higher Education Faculty in Illinois program.

The Illinois Board of Higher Education initiative is designed to increase diversity among higher education faculty will provide financial support to 103 graduate students, including four Jaguars.

The new fellows, all of which are College of Education majors, include:

- Jessica Love Jordan-Banks, a doctoral candidate in Counseling and Education Supervision

- Erica Smith, a graduate student pursuing a degree in Counseling with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health

- Kiwana Sanders, a doctoral candidate in Interdisciplinary Leadership

They will join doctoral candidate Michelle Williams, Interdisciplinary Leadership, Nonprofit Social Entrepreneurship, a returning fellow.
