GSU Student Athletes Recognized by NAIA

Seven athletic teams and 20 students-athletes from Governors State University were recently bestowed academic awards from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) on NAIA National Awards Day.
Jaguars were among 1,100 student-athletes recognized from more than 2,000 teams for their achievements during the 2020-21 school year. The following Jaguar squads received NAIA Scholar Team Awards for maintaining grade-point averages above 3.00 and the team GPA were: women's golf (3.50), women's soccer (3.43), women's volleyball (3.39), women's basketball (3.37), men's soccer (3.34), women's cross country (3.24) and men's golf (3.07).

The Daktronic Scholar-Athlete Award recognizes student-athletes who are juniors or above in academic standing and own a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher. They also must have attended two full years at their respective institution or a full year as a transfer.
