University Park, IL—For the fourth consecutive year, U.S. Veterans Magazine has ranked Governors State University among the 84 best schools for veterans across the country.
As part of the magazine’s Best of the Best list, the Top Veteran Friendly Schools are identified based on services and supports offered to assist veterans, transitioning service members, disabled veterans, spouses, and veteran business owners.
The magazine also lists Top Veteran Friendly Companies, Top Supplier Diversity Programs, and Top Government & Law Enforcement Agencies with the goal of helping veterans and their families identify resources.
GSU serves more than 370 military connected students and promotes campus-wide engagement strategies to help them succeed, said Kevin Smith, Director of the Veterans Resource Center.
“We’re excited to receive this award for providing outstanding services to military connected students from first inquiry to graduation. This confirms that my office and the university are providing the best educational experience for active duty, veterans, and their family members —and we’re doing it consistently.”
To make the list, GSU had to complete an extensive survey, supply supporting data and evidence of outreach to veteran organizations.
