GovState student athlete named CCAC player of the week

Yareli Pacheco, a Governors State University (GovState) Psychology major who also plays offensive setter was recently named Player of the Week by the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) following three volleyball match wins at the St. Mary's of the Woods tournament.

Currently in her senior year, Yareli dreams of working with youth after graduation and helping them navigate life. “Everyone is here for a reason and this is mine.”

She said the CCAC honor was a career highlight. “It's been five years. I'm glad my work paid off. It's my last year and I'm giving it all I have.”

Fellow Jaguar, Jennifer Barwicka, was also recognized, earning the defensive player of the week accolades. Jennifer is a Biology major in her junior year.
