GovState announces the Earthrise Scholarship
(University Park, Illinois) Governors State University (GovState) announces the Earthrise Scholarship for GovState students of all majors. This scholarship was made possible by a $25,000 donation from Earthrise Energy, an independent power producer that helps customers achieve their carbon reduction goals.
“We are deeply grateful to Earthrise Energy for their generous gift supporting student scholarships at Governors State University. Their investment is not only helping students achieve their educational goals but also strengthening our shared commitment to building brighter futures,” said Will Davis, Vice President of External Affairs at Governors State University.
Earthrise is committed to opening doors to local educational pathways through scholarships for students from early childhood through adulthood.

Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to students in good academic standing who meet the criteria below.

Eligibility requirements for the Earthrise Scholarship:
A. Minimum Requirement for GPA – Good Standing (2.0+)
B. Must complete an essay (500 - 1000 words) on the following topic:
o Please discuss your (current or intended) major choice and career goals.
o Why did/will you choose this major?
o What do you intend to do with your degree?
C. Financial need will be assessed by verifying the student’s FAFSA and a short essay.
o Please describe your Financial Need.
