Governors State University to increase tuition and fees

At its Feb. 23, 2026 Board of Trustee meeting, trustees approved the following for academic year 26-27:

• Tuition will increase by 2% for both domestic and international students at all levels. The increase is expected to generate approximately $570K in additional revenues in the first year, assuming flat student enrollment.
• Mandatory fees will increase by 2 percent, generating approximately $350K in additional revenues, assuming flat student enrollment.
• Rates for Prairie Place housing by 4.5% increase, generating approximately $129K in additional revenues, assuming a 95% occupancy rate.
