As the holiday season approaches, the Deans of Governors State University (GovState) have taken some time to reflect on some of the things they're grateful for here on campus.

I am grateful for the Southland community, which has embraced our efforts to connect and serve in order to make lives better in our region. The energy, warmth, and positivity in our community is amazing!”

“I am grateful for the students who bring enthusiasm, curiosity, and a commitment to learning. I am equally thankful for the dedicated and talented team of professors, divisional chairs, and staff. Their collective contributions significantly shape and enhance the vibrancy of our academic community, playing a pivotal role in our overall success.”

“I am grateful to have had the privilege of working in higher education for the last 25 years. I enjoy the impact I can have on students, programs, and initiatives and I enjoy the impact that these people and things have on me. I am constantly learning from those around me. It makes me sad to see some of the recent restrictions put on freedom of thought, expression, and discussion in higher education, but I am definitely grateful to work at a university and work in a state that embraces diversity and freedom of expression.”

On a daily basis, I am grateful for the dedication of our faculty and staff. I appreciate and am excited about how faculty are working to open new degree pathways (and reinvent existing ones) to prepare students for the world to come. I am thankful for how our staff continually find new ways to meet students’ needs and make their experience at GovState meaningful and memorable.”
