Governors State to host October 3 Cancer Awareness, Education Event

Governors State University's College of Health and Human Services’ (CHHS) Nursing Department and Lambda Lambda Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, today known as Sigma at Governors State University (GSU) has collaborated with the Far South Chicago Collation (FSCC), to organize our First Epic Health Fair focusing on Cancer Prevention, Education, and overall, Health and Wellness on Monday, October 3, 2022 from 10am to 4pm.

Please join  organizers Tareylon Chairse, Director of Clinical Education, Nursing Department at GSU and Dr. Tonya Roberson, Director of Community Engagement in the CHHS and the FSCC Health& Mental Wellness, Chair for this free event.

Event goals and objectives include:

·       To increase cancer awareness, the importance of early detection and health education and 
disease prevention to all.

·       To educate participants about health and safety risks that could cause delays in treatment and affect quality of life. 

·       To discuss how State and local communities can play an important role in helping communities to 
lower their cancer risks .

·       To encourage self-awareness , promote self-advocacy and ultimately more participation in clinical research.
