While summer is winding down, Jaguars can anticipate a warm welcome back to campus as Governors State University (GovState) celebrates the start of the fall semester with a Welcome Week full of food, music, and games to bring everyone together.

The campus tradition kicks off on the first day of classes with the familiar speed friending event that’s been given a new twist.

Tired of the average social mixer? Grab a brush and paint some windows while meeting new people at the Speed Friending event on Monday, August 25 in the Hall of Governors. Starting at noon, this event combines fast-paced, friendly conversations with art to break the ice and spark creativity.

In need of tips to make college a breeze? Look no further than the Hack your College Life: Tech Tips & Productivity Tools event on Tuesday, August 26 at 4 p.m. in the Lakeside Cove. Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE) will share some apps, shortcuts, and digital habits that can make the semester smoother.

Take a moment to meet GovState President Joyce Ester at the Presidential Scoop event on Wednesday, August 27 at noon in the Lakeside Lounge. This is an informal setting to welcome and introduce President Ester.

Keep the energy going at the Welcome Week Block Party & Greek Life Fair on Thursday, August 28 a 1 p.m. outside the D-Building Main Entrance. Connect with student clubs, campus departments, and community partners while enjoying music, games, and complimentary food trucks.

Shake off those first-week nerves at the Improv with Student Activities Council event on Friday, August 29 at noon in Engbretson Hall. Led by a professional improv coach, this workshop is all about creativity, quick thinking, and lots of laughs. No experience needed—the only rule? Have fun!
