Greetings Jaguars,

I am delighted that you have selected or are returning to Governors State University (GovState)! You have made an excellent choice to pursue your higher education goals.

In an effort to ensure all GovState students experience a vibrant campus life, Center for Student Engagement and Intercultural Programs (CSEIP), hosts a robust calendar of student events and activities throughout the year. We also oversee the GSU Food Pantry, located in A1115, as we believe that access to food is essential to academic success. CSEIP staff take great pride in ensuring that students are exposed to leadership opportunities through student clubs and organizations, civic engagement and diverse service-oriented activities.

I encourage all GovState students to participate in Welcome Week activities during their first week of classes. Welcome Week is an important part of any student’s college experience. Students have the opportunity to become acclimated with campus resources, meet other like-minded new and returning students and interact with GovState’s amazingly talented faculty and staff members.

I would like to personally invite all students to attend the Welcome Week Block Party and Greek Life Fair on Thursday, August 31st. Stop by the D main entrance to meet student leaders, enjoy complimentary food trucks, games, and more!

I am also thrilled to invite students to participate in monthly Greek Life activities, Homecoming, Springfest and more events to come!

Through innovative programming and co-curricular opportunities, CSEIP actively works to prepare students for personal and professional success. With over 50 student clubs and organizations, our goal is to provide a dynamic and engaging campus experience for both Prairie Place residents and commuter students. Students are encouraged to visit the Jaguar Connection website to learn about (and join) recognized clubs or organizations. However, if you can’t find one that suits your interests, contact a CSEIP staff member to learn how to create your own club or organization. You can contact CSEIP at

For more information on upcoming CSEIP events and programming, check your GovState email. GovState's newsletter, InsideGovState, also arrives in your inboxes twice every week during the school year.

I wish you all the best for a successful year.
