With each achievement they reach, Governors State University (GovState) alums inspire and enrich our community, something the university is proud to shine a light on.

Each year, GovState recognizes some of the university’s outstanding alumni with Distinguished Alumni Awards. The awards are given to those whose accomplishments exemplify the values of the university.

From now until May 15, GovState’s Alumni Association is accepting nominations for the prestigious awards. Anyone can nominate an alum by filling out the form here.

Alumni will be recognized during the Distinguished Alumni Reception on Nov. 2, 2024, at GovState with Distinguished Alumni Awards, the Rising Star Award, and the Distinguished Emeritus/Retiree Award.

The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes individuals who have contributed to their field of study or achieved a record of major distinction in their career.

The Rising Star Award recognizes a graduate from the last five years for superior accomplishments and the Distinguished Emeritus/Retiree Award recognizes a retired GovState faculty or staff member who continues their extraordinary commitment to their community and GovState through service and distinction.
