Governors State University’s (GovState) Dr. David Rhea, Founding Dean of the GovState Honors College, has been selected as a recipient of the Japan Studies Institute (JSI) Fellowship.

The two-week long program runs from June 2 - 15 and is designed to help faculty and administrators integrate Japanese studies into their institutions by equipping them with the tools and knowledge to do so. Participants engage in immersive learning and collaboration to gain insight into Japan’s history, culture, and modern society.

All participants will live and work together at San Diego State University in a residential hall-style arrangement that fosters collaborative learning and encourages an exchange of ideas while building professional connections. There will be seminars, lectures, and cultural activities, as well as off-campus excursions and evening gatherings that offer an immersive perspective on Japanese culture.

By completing the program, Dr. Rhea will gain the expertise and resources needed to inspire students to learn about Japan and global awareness in any academic discipline.
