Computer Science alum Bhanuprakash Madupati recognized as a global leader

Expertise in software development, cloud computing, AI, and cybersecurity makes Bhanuprakash Madupati a “tech hero” in the world of computer technology. Madupati is a 2015 graduate of the Master of Computer Science program at Governors State University (GovState).
“The concepts I learned at GovState, especially around software development and project management, have greatly influenced my career,” Madupati said.
Among his many achievements, Madupati was nominated by the Connected Awards as a Global Tech Hero in 2024. “I was deeply humbled to receive the award, which recognizes my commitment to creating technological solutions that address critical global issues,” he said. “And I believe that mentoring young technologists also played a part in my recognition.”
The Connected Awards is a globally recognized brand that celebrates excellence in the tech industry.
Madupati currently works remotely as a Technology Leader for the Minnesota Department of Corrections. He’s led initiatives that resulted in improvements in system efficiency and enhancements to security protocols. His previous employers included Cision and United Airlines.
During this career, Madupati has published more than 25 research papers on cybersecurity, data science, AI, cloud computing, and microservices. He actively contributes to the academic community as a peer reviewer for Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) journals.
Another notable achievement is his recent U.K. patent titled, "Artificial Intelligence-Embedded Data Processing Device for Assisting Coding in Software Development.”
“This was a significant milestone in my career,” Madupati said. “It required a year to secure the patent, involving extensive research, development, and collaboration. The patent process in AI demands rigorous testing, data validation, and documentation to ensure the solution is both novel and valuable.”
He explained that this invention focuses on an AI-powered tool designed to assist software developers by enhancing coding efficiency and reducing errors through real-time data processing and suggestions.
Another career milestone was his admission as a Senior Member to the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The organization engages engineers, scientists, academia, and industry professionals from across the globe in continued advancements in computer science and technology. “It’s an honor to be part of such a prestigious organization,” Madupati said.
He’s also Fellow Member of the British Computer Society (FBCS) and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET).
When he decided to pursue an advanced degree, Madupati said he became interested in GovState because of its “strong focus on practical learning and fostering innovation.” As a student-researcher, he worked on the E-Classroom project, which integrated technology into education.
“This experience helped me realize the importance of tech in enhancing learning environments and enabling better access to education,” Madupati said. “It continues to benefit students and faculty by providing a seamless learning experience through digital tools and resources.”
Madupati credits his GovState education with contributing to his successful career path. “The insight of Dr. Soon Ok Park into AI and machine learning laid the foundation for much of the work I do today.”
