Comcast provides GSU Veterans Resource Center with Technology
University Park, IL—Governors State University (GSU) is excited to announce Comcast has donated $2,000 to support the purchase of technology for the university’s newly renovated Veterans Resource Center Lounge as part of Comcast’s Internet Essentials Program.
Veterans on campus will now be able to relax among peers, access the internet, and use the technology for homework, research, and entertainment. Comcast has demonstrated its support for veterans at GSU and on a national level in a variety of ways, from hiring initiatives, to funding for technology for veterans.
The Internet Essentials Program provides internet service at home to eligible low-income households for an estimated $10/month. The recent expansion of program eligibility to 1 million low-income veterans nationwide—130,000 in Illinois alone—is another example of the company’s commitment to the veteran population.
Comcast’s donation to GSU will allow the university’s award-winning Veterans Resource Center to continue serving the educational needs of the veteran population in the Southland community. Comcast previously supported a STEAM camp and a golf outing at GSU. Comcast’s continued support showcases the company’s ongoing commitment to the university’s diverse student population.
