College of Business Celebrating Renewed Momentum

As Jaguars return to campus, the College of Business is celebrating a renewed momentum to help engage and inspire students who aspire to make their mark in the business world.

To honor Governors State University (GSU) Accounting alumni, the college recently launched a Hall of Fame for CPAs. Eighty two Jaguars who have earned the Certified Public Accounting designation were the first inductees and gathered on campus to celebrate.

GSU Trustee Angela Sebastian (’96) was among those recognized.

Citing data from the American Institute of CPAs, Sebastian said many CPAs work in industry and not accounting firms.

“The skills obtained through the academic path at Governors State University are valuable and in high demand for every business. This creates tremendous opportunity for students who are interested and who are willing to do the hard work to get there,’’ she said.
