Civil Service Employee of the Month Recap November - December

Congratulations are in order for two Governors State University employees who were named Civil Service Employee of the Month from  November to December 2023! All nominations were made anonymously.

Sharry Murawski, Client Relations Representative II of Financial Aid, received the award in November. A co-worker shared: “Sharry is an employee that always shows up and goes above and beyond. She has almost single-handedly transformed the front desk operations of the Financial Aid Office. I am very proud to have her on our team and represent the high quality standards that are required in a financial aid department.”

Bobby Buckley, Shuttle Bus Driver in the Department of Public Safety, was the December award recipient.

"Bobby’s courtesy and generosity is evident in how he treats the people whom he transports, which reflects how he sees both our community and his position in it. He does not settle for mere competence; instead he functions not only as a driver, but as a mentor, witness, provider of information, and peace-maker.  He sensitively listens to students talking about their challenges and, when appropriate, offers feedback.  For example, I have heard him wisely counsel some students about both conflicts with roommates and academic struggles.  He offers encouraging words to staff and faculty discouraged by a challenging day.  In other words, he builds community," said an appreciative co-worker.
