Civil Service Employee of the Month Recap December - March

Congratulations are in order for four Governors State University (GovState) employees who were named Civil Service Employee of the Month from December 2024 through March 2025! All nominations were made anonymously.
Kim Ferkula (not pictured), Housing Officer in Student Affairs, received the award in December 2024. A co-worker shared: “Kim’s impact on our office has been truly remarkable. Prior to our arrival, she was the sole person responsible for handling numerous tasks on her own for several months after the departure of the director. Despite challenges, she managed to fulfill the responsibilities with remarkable efficiency. Since our team has expanded, Kim has gone above and bend to ensure that the onboarding process has been smooth and seamless.”
The January 2025 award recipient was Cydney Boyd, Career Counselor in Career Services. “I nominate Cydney because as our Career Counselor, she tirelessly works to go above and beyond her immediate role in a consistent manner. Since Cydney has joined us just a little over a year ago, she has created many new workshops and is even in the final stages of collaborating with our Media department to create an entire, interactive e-book on relevant career topics,” said an appreciate co-worker.
Montgomery Proffit II, Coordinator of Greek Life in Student Affairs, was the award recipient for February 2025. “Montgomery Proffit serves as Coordinator of Student Clubs and Organizations. He consistently supports student leaders and is extremely patient and knowledgeable. Montgomery ensures that campus activities are scheduled in a timely matter and goes above and beyond to support clubs, organizations and faculty/staff advisors with purchase requests, consultations and room reservations,” wrote a co-worker.
Most recently, Gloria Fuller, Office Manager in the College of Business, received the award in March 2025. “The best decision made five years ago was to offer Gloria the position of Office Manager in the College of Business. It is because of her exceptional performance that I am honored to recommend her as EOTM. Gloria excelled in her position as office manager resulting in her being appointed as Liaison to the SCICBI Department. She continues to excel in both positions. Although she is always busy her demeanor is always “Welcoming” to all GovState community as well as the community outside.”
