Civil Service Employee of the Month Recap April - May

Congratulations are in order for two Governors State University (GovState) employees who were named Civil Service Employee of the Month in April and May 2024! All nominations were made anonymously.

James Davis, Building Service Foreman in Facilities Development and Management, received the award in April. A co-worker shared: “I’m nominating James because he consistently goes above and beyond in his duties. He makes sure the Admissions area is clean and safe. Even though I’m sure his job isn’t always a pleasant one, he always brings a pleasant demeanor to his interactions with us. He is also a very thorough person, pointing out things that may become hazards that I may not have noticed. I’m also always impressed by his eye for detail.”

The May award recipient was Amber Hvorcik, IT Support Associate II in Information Technology Services. “I am nominating Amber because she is the hardest working, most dedicated employee. She goes way above and beyond to help students and employees. Amidst the challenges of each new semester, Amber digs deep and rises to the occasion. Amber is the keystone that holds together The Cube Computer Lab," said an appreciative co-worker.
