Chandra Thompson: New Assistant Athletic Director
Governors State University (GovState) recently welcomed Chandra Thompson to the Jaguars athletics management team as Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Student Success for the 14 GovState men's and women's sports.
“It's been a challenging, yet an exciting journey thus far. Through it all, I've had my wonderful colleagues in the Athletic Department and some great people in other areas to assist me. Everyone has been patient with me every step of the way. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work at Governors State University!” said Thompson.
Thompson, a Birmingham, Alabama native was previously Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance, Game Day Operations and Academics at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama from 2016-2022. Thompson was also Assistant Compliance Coordinator at Stillman and an athletics graduate assistant at Grambling State University in Louisiana.
Thompson has earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Stillman College and a Master of Science in sports administration from Grambling State University.
"I'm excited that we are able to add a talented Assistant Athletic Director to our team. Ms. Thompson brings energy, experience and passion. She has the personality to work well with administrators, coaches and our student-athletes," said Athletic Director Tony Bates of new Assistant AD Thompson.
