This Women’s History Month, The Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University (GovState) invites you to step back in time and experience the electrifying energy of Rosie & The Rivets! Performing the best music of the 1950s, 1960s and beyond with a modern retro twist, this high-energy band delivers a powerhouse performance that celebrates the iconic women and musical trailblazers who shaped Rock and Roll history. Frontwoman Christine Mikulskis’ vocals have drawn comparisons to Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse, Karen Carpenter, Little Richard, and Lavern Baker.

Rosie & The Rivets started as a passion project ten years ago when Mikulskis was working as a flight attendant. She and her partner Frank James began jamming together as a duo and were overwhelmed by the audience’s positive response. That’s when Frank proposed that Christine leave the airline and make the band their full-time career. Christine said the prospect was terrifying, but she took a chance, and it paid off. They added a rhythm section, and the rest is women’s history! Mikulskis credits their incredibly loyal fanbase for their continued success.

The band started with a repertoire devoted to the first ten years of Rock and Roll and has since evolved to include more contemporary artists, such as Amy Winehouse. Christine shares, “I sing the boys' songs, too. I don’t shy away from that. We enjoy subverting audience expectations. When we started out, we covered Patsy Cline’s ‘Crazy.’ The music would start, and the audience assumed I would take the mic, but we had Frank sing it instead.”

For an extra special treat, audience members will enjoy a limited-seating, on-stage cabaret experience that puts them up close and personal with Rosie and the Rivets! Feel the rhythm, soak in the energy, and enjoy an intimate and immersive setting unlike any other.
