Celebrate the start of the school year at Convocation 2025

Kicking off the 2025-26 academic year, Governors State University’s (GovState) Convocation will be held on Sept. 4 in the Center for Performing Arts (the Center), where President Joyce Ester, Ph.D., will greet the University in her first major address to the entire campus.

This annual tradition welcomes new and returning Jaguars, while celebrating academic excellence at GovState.

Check-in and welcome activities begin at noon in the Hall of Governors, with the Convocation ceremony following at 1 p.m. in the Center. Students, faculty, and staff are all invited.

Immediately following the ceremony, there will be an Ice Cream Social in the Hall of Governors. Grab a frozen treat and mingle with other Jaguars!
