Accounting, Strategy and MIS Expert

Dr. Carlos Ferran is a Professor of Accounting, Strategy and Management Information Systems (MIS) who also serves as GSU’s Director of Accreditation and Assessment. He earned his doctoral degree in Business Administration with a major in MIS from Boston University. As a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), he has developed many accounting systems and written articles on new methods for making accounting better and easier in the digital world.

With a passion for using technology to communicate, Dr. Ferran has done research on how online courses can be more effective, how people accept information when communicating via videoconference and how students learn using online courses. Some of his additional areas of research include:

  • Accounting Information Systems
  • Online education (eLearning)
  • Technology-Mediated Knowledge Management
  • Digital Divide
  • Infoenergy

Dr. Ferran has written several articles on infoenergy – the relationship between energy and information – how it relates to clean energy and green energy sources, and how to maintain the environment in view of the increasing demand for energy.
