Annual Sculpture, Wine and Dine returns September 13
By Sarah Shoaf, Staff Writer
Enjoy a night with art at Governors State University’s (GovState) Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park (theNate) for its annual Sculpture, Wine & Dine event that celebrates the award-winning sculpture park.
Set for Saturday, Sept. 13, this year’s event, dubbed The Prairie Party, places Mary Miss’ “Field Rotation” at the center of the celebration following the piece’s recent restoration. Starting at 4 p.m., guests can enjoy guided tours by golf cart and self-guided walking tours with the free app “Otocast.” A cocktail hour will follow.
An exhibition, “Beneath Our Feet,” will be held in the Visual Arts Gallery where guests can admire a survey of earthworks made by Miss around the time she created “Field Rotation” in 1981. Guests can also meet the artist herself.
Later in the evening, a DrewBBQ buffet dinner will be served at “Running Table” by Dan Peterman. Vegetarian and vegan options are available with RSVPs.
