Tax and Legal Policy Expert

Dr. Alice Keane is an Assistant Professor of Accounting and an expert on tax policy and legal policy. She earned a B.A. in Political Science/International Studies and a Juris Doctorate in Law from the University of Illinois College of Law. She holds a Master of Laws in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center and is also a licensed attorney.

In addition to teaching in the College of Business, Dr. Keane has served on multiple committees and community boards and currently serves as GSU’s Faculty Advisor for the Accounting, Finance and Economics Club. She also conducts research and writes on various tax issues. 

Prior to working as a faculty member at GSU, Dr. Keane served as the Deputy General Counsel for Income Tax Litigation at the Illinois Department of Revenue and as an Assistant Attorney General supervising the Civil Prosecutions Unit in General Law at the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.

  • Tax (state, federal, international), including issues related to the taxation of cannabis businesses
