For students who want to engage their peers, Governors State University’s (GovState) College of Business (COB) has the perfect platform. Pitch Party is one of several events slotted for Business Week 2025.
From Monday, April 21 – Friday, April 25, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members are invited to engage in various enriching experiences and networking opportunities.
1. Simulation Competition | Monday, April 21 from noon – 3 p.m. in D2430B – Looking to put business practices in action? Join this interactive competition to apply business concepts in simulated environments.
2. Honors Reception | Monday, April 21 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. in Hall of Honors (D1490) – Dress up for this ceremony that recognizes outstanding student academic achievements within the College of Business (COB).
3. Pitch Party | Tuesday, April 22 from 1 – 5 p.m. in Engbretson Hall – Get creative! This inaugural competition invites students to propose innovative ideas to enhance student engagement on campus. The winning team will receive funding to bring their proposal to life. This is sponsored by The Friends of the GovState Library Fund.
4. Research and Teaching Seminar | Wednesday, April 23 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in Hall of Honors (D1490) – Calling all students, faculty, and staff! This series of events offers an opportunity to explore global business trends, cutting-edge research, and innovative teaching methods. From climate change to AI, these events look to expand perspectives.
5. Marketing Yourself for Success Workshop | Thursday, April 24 from 1 – 4 p.m. in D1496 – Navigate the job market with confidence! This engaging and informative workshop will focus on empowering COB students to market themselves effectively, including sessions on tailoring resumes, dressing for success, and building a personal brand.
6. Alumni Reception | Thursday, April 24 from 6 – 9 p.m. in the Center for Performing Arts – Mix and mingle at this evening event full of networking and insights from a distinguished entrepreneur, offering valuable perspectives on innovation and leadership. Purchase tickets here.
7. The Drones are Coming | Friday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to noon – Join industry pioneers, policy leaders, and tech visionaries for a dynamic, hands-on exploration of the latest breakthroughs in smart logistics and electrification.
