Season's Greetings

Seasons greetings header art with snow and pinecones

Season's greetings, Governors State University (GovState) community!

As this year comes to a close, take a moment to reflect on what we’ve accomplished over the last 12 months. With each achievement, we’ve advanced the university’s mission to offer an exceptional and accessible education that prepares students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed in a global society. This is no small feat in today’s economic and political environment.

Our new tagline, We are GovState, says it all, reflecting that we are students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and community partners —all following the North Star that guides us to create an intellectually stimulating public square, serve as an economic catalyst for the region, and lead as a model of academic excellence, innovation, diversity and responsible citizenship.

This holiday season, we are grateful for education, the great equalizer, and one of the greatest gifts of all.

Our sincere hope for these upcoming weeks is that you have a wonderful winter break filled with the warmth of friends and loved ones, and that you take time to reflect, re-energize and practice self-care.

With all that is happening in the world today, it seems a bit hollow to simply wish everyone peace and joy this holiday season. So, we also wish you strength, courage and hope for the future — our future.

Enjoy your well-deserved winter break, Jaguars!

Sincerely,

Corey Bradford, Ph.D.

Acting President, Governors State University
