Humans of GSU: Ashley Manteca

“I’ve been around love and compassion and empathy my entire life because I grew up with a brother who had special needs, and two other siblings with special needs died.

My mom took care of everybody, and I developed a love to nurture: that’s why I’m studying Early Childhood Education at GSU.

But two years ago, I tried my hand at modeling and acting, and now I’m enjoying that passion. I play the role of Sunny in “Did it Before,” a short film that will be featured next month in the Black Harvest Film Festival. It’s an exciting time, and I’m dreaming of one day combining all my passions. Maybe I’ll perform or start a foundation to raise money and awareness for children with special needs. I’m not putting any limits on myself.’’
